Thank you, Jeanne, for this interesting article which tells us so much about an aspect of China unknown to most of us in the West. It appears that even a conservative country like China has a tradition of avant-garde, bohemian artists.

My dear Yves, thank you for your comments. It was a tough one to write for me, as this is my friend, and there is a certain responsibility towards him, his art, just like when I write about Stanley. I must say, there is so much I can not say, or do not want to, or can not, as how does one talk about a life in such a short time. However, I am now convinced when I go back to this China I love, and to re meet Wake, I shall be working on his story, in a form of fiction. Running Snail, to you as well, dear Yves.

Thank you Jeanne, for introducing us to this passionate, irrepressible and eloquent artist, who loves and lives to create and turns the substance and constraints of his life into his creation. Also for pointing me towards The Crack, which I found both melancholic and funny. It’s important that we know about him, although I also take note of Ai Weiwei’s comment about gaining the world’s recognition and respect - when subversive risks becoming establishment- not being good for his creativity. I’d love to see Dream Walking next!

Wow! This one, I will have to read it several times. I don't know why (yet), but it's in reading it that I realized that answering your survey a moment earlier, what I felt was: I would feel more at home if I was answering about, "Making your first *fiction* short film." I will have to ask that question in the days coming, "Why?"

This probably has something to do with the Running Snail, which has to reveal something about yourself.
